We Were Tired of Living in a House

Generations of Northwest kids have been raised on Doris Burn's classic picture book, Andrew's Meadow, but until recently I didn't know about this other gem of hers. Burn, who lived most of her long life on remote Waldron Island in the San Juans, is just the illustrator for this one, but it's a similarly charming tale of kids making their own creative way in the out of doors, full of her sweetly ramshackle illustrations. (Age 1 to 6)
