We Don't Eat Our Classmates

by Ryan T. Higgins

Kids' Book of the Week , July 9, 2018

Ryan Higgins has a particular empathy for the dilemmas of carnivores. First there was Mother Bruce, a bear who just wanted a nice meal of hard-boiled eggs and ended up with a brood of adoring goslings. Now there's Penelope, a little T. rex who arrives at her first day of school to find her new friends are delicious (especially when Cece Woodman spills BBQ sauce on herself). It's a difficult challenge to ethics and self-discipline, but Penelope, hilariously, perseveres. (Ages 2 to 5)
