The Adulterants
by Joe Dunthorne
New Book of the Week , April 9, 2018
Into the fine and hilarious tradition of men making every possible wrong decision stumbles Ray Morris, a 33-year-old tech journalist living on the still-too-expensive outskirts of London with a wife named Garthene and a baby he's hardly ready for on the way. Burdened by both a debilitating self-consciousness and poor impulse control (you should never have taken those two beers at the riot, mate), Ray may or may not have you rooting for him as he destroys his life, but Dunthorne likely will have you believing that he's in the comic league of Sam Lipsyte and Kingsley Amis. He's nasty and funny.
