Oh what a joy that this book is back in print! I didn't know about it when I was little (though I was the right age for it when it came out in 1973), but it was a favorite to read with our own kids, both for Segal's tales of intrepid, imaginative children and well-meaning but semi-hapless grown-ups and for Pincus's illustrations, which make city living seem like a bit of a grand adventure, climaxing with an encounter with the motorcade of a '70s-style president who's like a cross between Jimmy Carter and Andy Warhol. (Age 2 and up)
