Slush Mountain
by Bjorn Rune Lie
Kids' Book of the Week , February 29, 2016
Since we've had such a snowy winter on the nearby slopes, let's celebrate Slush Mountain, Bjørn Lie's oddball new appreciation of ski culture. Slush Mountain is a busy place—almost Richard Scarry-busy—from the mogul run at Goose Bump Glacier to the "controversial log mansion" of "the wealthy bobsled king, Christopher Longjohns." The density of kooky invention on Lie's pages rivals favorites like Maira Kalman and Mark Alan Stamaty, but he has a deadpan warmth all of his own (and oh, the fantastic outfits he concocts!). Best enjoyed with a cup of cocoa by a cozy fire.
