Our Kind of Cruelty

In our post-Gone Girl times, when it seems we are in an arms race of narrative unreliability, Araminta Hall gives things a twist of her own, putting her tale in the hands of Mike Hayes, a self-made London success whose sole driving force is his obsession with his former (and future?) girlfriend, Verity. Mike is a monster, surely (and one becoming all the more recognizable—I'm talking to you, ex-NYAG Eric Schneiderman), but just how much of one, and just how much he'll convince you otherwise, remains open until the story's end.
