Nature Anatomy

by Julia Rothman

Kids' Book of the Week , March 23, 2015

After her popular illustrated compendium, Farm Anatomy, Julia Rothman has expanded her curiosity to take in the entire natural world. In over 200 colorful pages, she shares facts on everything from the burial practices of ants to the life cycle of a mushroom, but her lovely, attentive drawings are really what will cause you to hungrily turn the pages. The drawing is what seems to draw her in too: she'll throw in a page full of moths or feathers just because they're pretty. Who will enjoy following her wanderings more, kids or adults? I think the answer is "both."
