Nanette's Baguette

by Mo Willems

Kids' Book of the Week , October 31, 2016

For those still mourning the end of Mo Willems's Elephant and Piggie series, the author is back with a delightful new picture book, illustrated with photos of a cardboard-and-paper diorama-like world. Nanette's Baguette is silly fun with words that rhyme with the French loaf of the title: set, get, pet, as well as some new words for early readers like quartet and Tibet. Entrusted by her mother to fetch their daily bread from the bakery, Nanette doesn't get distracted by her friends Georgette, Suzette, Bret, and Mr. Barnett along the way, but can't resist a bite of the delicious baguette. Nanette frets and sweats until her mother helps her reset. I bet you won't regret reading Nanette's Baguette. It's a fête you won't forget!. (Age 2 to 5)
