Midwinterblood
by Marcus Sedgwick
Kids' Book of the Week , September 2, 2014
An archeologist discovers the ancient body of a small woman buried deep in the earth of a remote British island. A young reporter, seeking answers, meets the love of his life on that same island, years earlier. But hasn't he met her before? A WWII pilot crash-lands in a farmer's field, bringing a very unwelcome war to the tiny, secluded island. For those wondering why so many adults are reading YA titles, look no further than Midwinterblood. Sedgwick's novel takes readers from one life to the next in a series of vignettes, playing with the ideas of reincarnation, love, and retribution. Regardless of whether you are a teen or an adult, this gorgeous Printz Award winner is a fabulously good read. (12 and up)
