Audiobook of the Week Magpie Murders by Anthony Horowitz, read by Samantha Bond and Allan Corduner I'm late in coming to Magpie Murders, but it entirely lived up to the reports I'd heard all year of its charming and ingenious story-within-a-story tribute to classical Agatha Christie-style whodunits, and with Allan Corduner (Sir Arthur Sullivan in my beloved Topsy-Turvy!) throatily voicing the mystery within and Downton Abbey's Samantha Bond reading the frame story, it makes a satisfyingly entertaining audiobook, well-enough constructed and observed that it's not a mere pastiche, but an involving tale (two tales, really) of its own. —Tom (You can sample, and purchase, the audio download of Magpie Murders at our digital partner, Libro.fm.)
