Little Fox in the Forest
by Stephanie Graegin
Kids' Book of the Week , March 6, 2017
The best picture book illustrations can inspire gasps and "aww"s without a single word of text. The wordless Little Fox in the Forest begins in shades of blue and white as we see a little girl bringing her beloved toy fox to school for show and tell. As she's playing on the swings, a real fox grabs the toy out of her backpack and takes off into the woods. The girl and her friend pursue the two foxes into an animal village in the forest as the illustrations gradually change to full color. When the girl discovers what really happened to her toy fox, kindness saves the day. Graegin's illustrations are excellent at showing the characters' emotions with a simple stance or expression. Full of imagination and wonder, this is a book to enjoy again and again. (Ages 2 and up)
