The Caldecotts, like the Oscars, don't often go to comedy, but this funny book was one of this year's Caldecott Honor winners, and deservedly so. It's written and drawn in the style of a traditional Russian folk tale about an old woman who can't get any peace and quiet, but like the best tales it takes a turn or two beyond where you expect: in this case, involving little green moon-men and a wormhole. It all makes perfect sense. (Ages 2 to 5)
