I'm Just No Good at Rhyming: And Other Nonsense for Mischievous Kids and Immature Grown-Ups

by Chris Harris, illustrated by Lane Smith

Kids' Book of the Week , September 25, 2017

This fat new book of verse is unrelated to almost anything else on our shelves, except that it might be a nephew to old Uncle Shelby, Shel Silverstein. With tiny punch-line couplets, silly multi-stanza ballads, and ingeniously worked-out puzzles (including the strange and persistent absence of the number 8), it's an encyclopedia of invention, vast enough that when your seven-year-old follows you around reciting its witty, goofy, and sometimes-a-little-bit-rotten rhymes (the title is most definitely a lie), at least he or she will have a lot to choose from. I suspect this is going to be a classic, fast. (Age 5 and up)
