How did I only recently learn about this wonderful picture book from 1964? Created by Remy Charlip (a design and choreography collaborator with Merce Cunningham and John Cage and—fun fact!—the physical model for Brian Selznick's Hugo Cabret), it's a good news/bad news classic (Thank goodness for the parachute! Watch out for that pitchfork!) that is still perfectly pitched for toddler listeners mesmerized by the ups and downs of Ned's story. (Ages 1 to 5)
