Dust & Grooves: Adventures in Record Collecting
by Eilon Paz
New Book of the Week , September 28, 2015
This is one of the most beautiful books of the year, and to me one of the most joyous. Paz traveled the world photographing record collectors with their vinyl, and the result is a gorgeously and thoughtfully designed tribute to the beauty, curiosity, and sheer love that propels them, whether they are famous music pros like Questlove or the guy in Philly who only collects Sesame Street records. Collectors have a reputation as anti-social obsessives, but this is a bright-eyed book full of connection and fascination with our fellow humans and what they've managed to produce. As one vinyl head says, "We should feel lucky for the stuff that survives the gnawing teeth of time."
