Cycle City

by Alison Farrell

Kids' Book of the Week , May 14, 2018

A polar bear on a gelatocycle. A fish on a hydrocycle. An armadillo on a penny farthing (that's a bike too). Mayor Snail on a snazzy little BMX. A giraffe on a very tall unicycle. Everyone in Cycle City is headed for the Starlight Parade, but the whole book, the first by Portland author Alison Farrell, feels like a celebration, with the good-natured oddball chaos of Richard Scarry and the find-it fun of Where's Waldo. You and your little readers will love finding new oddball details in each reading, and will likely be inspired to get out on two (or three or five) wheels yourselves. (Age 2 and up)
