Circle, Triangle, Elephant: A Book of Shapes and Surprises

by Kenji Oikawa and Mayuko Takeuchi

Kids' Book of the Week , February 26, 2018

Is an elephant a shape? Is a lemon? A bus? I don't see why not, but somehow it's still hilarious (to me, and I expect to a toddler just learning all these rules we've decided on) to see such incongruous objects pop up alongside the usual squares, triangles, and circles. In this goofy and good-natured board book—whose expert comic pacing could be studied by any sitcom writer—they pop up over and over again, and the funny just keeps getting funnier. (Age 0 to 3)
