Betty Bunny Loves Chocolate Cake
by Michael B. Kaplan and Stéphane Jorisch
A customer tipped us off to this recent gem, which makes me laugh every single time, not just for Betty herself, stuffing a slice of cake in her pocket (and then her sock), and her older brother Bill, with his pitch-perfect teen sarcasm, but for Stéphane Jorisch's illustrations, which give this bunny family's clothes more personality than you'll find in most novels. A worthy successor, in spirit and humor, to one of the all-time greats, Russell and Lillian Hoban's Bread and Jam for Frances. (Ages 2 to 5)
