At the Window

At the Window is a celebration of the people we become accustomed to seeing throughout our daily routine (especially in a neighborhood like Phinney Ridge). You may never exchange a word, but there is something comforting in seeing the same familiar faces and knowing your worlds overlap. At the Window follows a child who walks by the same neighbor woman sitting in her window every day, thinking and writing. At night, "her room is on display like a scene in a play." They begin greeting each other, but then one day the woman is gone. This picture book is a lovely reminder of the value of casual community and how a shift in perspective can change everything.
