A Girl and Her Gator

Really, there's almost no way to choose among A Girl and Her Gator and the linked picture books by Bryan and Murphy that precede and follow it, each with its own similarly inexplicable but ultimately joyful predicament: A Boy and His Bunny and A Bear and His Boy. They are equally witty and inventive, equally carried along by a brisk rhythm and rhyme (too rare in picture books), and equally full of lessons for sensible, good-natured living (for example: if you find a gator in your hair, wear it with flair!). They are all superb. (2 and up)
